July’s Summer Reset: Watermelon Mocktail

Summer’s in full swing here in Central New York, and that means it’s the perfect time to reset, recharge, and sip on something fresh and nourishing. This month, we’re diving into one of my favorite summertime fruits—watermelon! Juicy, vibrant, and hydrating, it’s everything your body (and taste buds) need during these hot, sticky days.

I’m so excited for this month’s Summer Reset Series at Vine & Fig in Rome, where we’ll kick things off with yoga, sip on a homemade watermelon mocktail, and enjoy a nourishing breakfast together. These events have become one of my favorite ways to slow down and be more intentional about how I’m caring for my body, mind, and spirit—and I’m so grateful to share them with you.

Why Watermelon?

Aside from tasting like summer in a bite, watermelon is packed with goodness. It’s over 90% water, which makes it a hydration hero, and it’s full of vitamins A, C, and B6—aka a boost for your skin, immunity, and energy levels. It’s also rich in lycopene, an antioxidant that’s great for your heart, and has amino acids that support your muscles (yes, even when you’re just stretching it out on the yoga mat!).

In this month’s mocktail, we’re pairing freshly juiced watermelon with a splash of tart cherry, lemon, and coconut water—plus a drizzle of honey and a hint of fresh basil. The flavor combo is light, refreshing, and functional… with ingredients that support hydration, inflammation reduction, and recovery. It’s the kind of drink that makes you feel like your best self after the first sip.

What to Expect

We’ll start the morning with a 30-minute yoga session to help us ground, breathe, and move with intention. Then we’ll roll right into the mocktail-making portion, where I’ll guide you through crafting your own drink with fresh, nutrient-packed ingredients. You’ll leave with a recipe card and the confidence to mix it up again at home.

To round it out, Vine & Fig will be serving a seasonal breakfast filled with nourishing options to pair with your drink. Think: cozy, casual, and full of feel-good food.

My Tips for Picking a Perfect Watermelon

Picking a good watermelon doesn’t have to be a guessing game. My go-to tips:

  • Look for the field spot – the creamy yellow patch is a sign of ripeness.

  • Tap it – a hollow sound means it’s juicy and ready.

  • Check the skin – it should be a deep, uniform green with no soft spots or bruising.

Once you bring it home, store it in a cool, dry spot, and pop it in the fridge after cutting. Perfect for smoothies, snacking, or saving for your next mocktail moment.

Why the Summer Reset Series?

Summer is full of energy and adventure, but it can also leave us feeling a little disconnected from ourselves. That’s why I created this series—so we could slow down, breathe, sip something that serves our bodies well, and reconnect to the present moment.

Each session blends movement, mindfulness, and functional ingredients in a way that’s simple, approachable, and fun. It’s not about being perfect—it’s about feeling good and creating space for intention.

What’s Next?

July is officially sold out (thank you all!!), but good news—August’s Summer Reset is wide open, and it's your last chance to join us before summer winds down and the back-to-school chaos kicks in.

In August, we’re focusing on blueberries, and the mocktail we’re crafting is just as functional as it is delicious. You’ll learn all about the health benefits of this antioxidant powerhouse and enjoy a refreshing, berry-forward blend that’s perfect for the late-summer vibe.

Reserve your spot now and come reset with us one last time this season.

Cheers!
– Cristi
